What Does The Bible Say About Lust?

Lust, according to God's word, is way deeper than just physical desire—it's any craving or longing that you put above God Himself. The Bible calls out lust as a heart issue, not just a body issue. It's when you want something so bad, whether it's sex, power, validation, or even just attention, that it starts to take God's place in your life. That's why Jesus says if you even look at someone with lust, you've already committed adultery in your heart (Matthew 5:28). It's about what rules your heart, not just what you do with your body.

But here's the wild part: the gospel is the answer to this mess. True deliverance from lust isn't about you muscling through temptation or pretending you don't struggle. It's about bringing your struggle into the light, not hiding it in shame. When those thoughts hit, don't own them—bring them to God's word. Remind yourself: "This thought has no power over me because Jesus already overcame it." (Galatians 5:16) Fill your mind with truth, not trash. When you trust Him, you realize your body isn't even yours anymore—"you are not your own, you were bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God has a purpose for you, and He gives you new desires, new love, and the power to walk away from what used to control you.

So, lust dies when you stop hiding, when you stop making yourself the center, and when you let Jesus be your master. The gospel isn't just a ticket to heaven—it's freedom from the stuff that keeps you chained up right now. Bring your struggle to Jesus, let Him heal it, and watch how He changes your heart.
