What Does The Bible Say About Love?

God's word makes it crystal clear—real love isn't just a warm fuzzy feeling or a bunch of good deeds. The Bible says true love is Godly love, and that only comes from Jesus. You can give away all your stuff, you can even sacrifice your life, but if you don't have the love that comes from God, it's all just empty noise. That's what Paul is shouting in 1 Corinthians 13—without Godly love, everything else is worthless.

But here's the kicker: the highest form of love is what Jesus did for us. John 15:13 says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Jesus laid down His life for you and me. That's the gospel! The gospel IS love. Every prophecy, every commandment, every story in the Bible points to this—Jesus Christ dying for sinners, giving us eternal life. That's the love that changes everything.

So, when the Bible says "love your neighbor as yourself," it's not just talking about buying your friend some Jordans or paying their rent. Sure, that's nice, but if you leave their soul lost, what good is that? The real way to love your neighbor is to share the gospel with them. The gospel is the ultimate act of love because it gives eternal life, not just temporary comfort.
