“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
- John 6:40
God's Word isn't shy about work—matter of fact, it's all over the Bible! But let's get this straight: the Bible doesn't say your job is your identity or your ultimate purpose. Nope. Your job is a tool, not the destination. The real purpose? To believe in Jesus and share the gospel, no matter what you do for a living.
Let's hit some verses:
John 6:40 says, "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." That's God's will—believe in Jesus! Your job is just a platform to live that out.
Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Don't chase the paycheck or the title—chase God's kingdom. When you put Him first, everything else falls into place.
First Timothy 2:3-4 tells us what's good and acceptable to God: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." God's heart is for people to be saved. Your job—whether you're a barber, a chef, a teacher, or a mechanic—is a place where you can share that truth.
So, how does this tie to the gospel? Simple: your job is a mission field. It's not about how much money you make or how high you climb. It's about how many people you can reach with the good news of Jesus. Every job is an opportunity to love people, serve them, and point them to Christ. That's the real work that matters for eternity!
