What Does The Bible Say About Job Seaches?

When it comes to searching for a job, the Bible doesn't give you a step-by-step career guide, but it does give you some rock-solid truths to stand on. First, remember Hebrews 13:5—"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." That means God is with you in every interview, every application, every moment of doubt. He's not just a bystander; He's the one who opens doors and provides opportunities. If He's given you a job, He'll sustain you in it. And if something gets taken away, God's not subtracting—He's setting you up for something better, just like He did for Job, David, and Joseph. Joseph went from prison to ruling Egypt! God never leaves His people stranded.

But don't miss the bigger picture: God's will for your life is way more than just your career. John 6:40 says, "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life." Your main purpose is to believe in Jesus and share the gospel wherever you are—whether you're a teacher, a barber, a chef, or anything else. Your job is just a platform to reach people with the good news. So as you search, seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), trust that He's with you, and use every opportunity to point people to Christ. That's how your job search ties right back to the gospel.
